I worked with Henness House, a new luxury vacation rental located inside Yosemite National Park boundaries. Despite this incredible differentiator, the property struggled with inconsistent bookings in the off-season due to an outdated website that failed to communicate its unique value proposition. The new brand voice emphasizes insider access, a haven for creative retreat, and the transformative difference of waking up inside Yosemite.

The site architecture guides visitors through the experience of staying at Henness House, highlighting the amenities as a story rather than a list of benefits. This was paired with conversion driven seasonal campaigns and packages, linked to an email capture system. The result is a cohesive brand presence and marketing system that positions Henness House as the premium Yosemite accommodation choice, with scalable campaigns that drive bookings during traditionally slow seasons.

“Kate is lightning in a bottle! She is one of those rare creatives who just gets it. From the very first interaction, she understood the brief better than I could have imagined, asked sharp questions, and brought a wave of fresh, thoughtful ideas that elevated the project well beyond my expectations. She’s fast, responsive, collaborative, and clearly takes pride in her work—not just delivering on the vision, but actively improving it. The final product is genuinely exceptional and reflects both her creativity and attention to detail. I feel lucky to have found her and would work with her again in a heartbeat.”

When Katie Phillips and Karen Joy Brown came to me, they had a Substack, scattered social platforms, and a vision held together with digital zipties. As Strategic Creative, I transformed their fragmented presence into a cohesive brand ecosystem that positions them as leaders in the creativity-recovery space.

Through intensive brand distillation, I uncovered their unique archetype—The Liberated Creator—and developed a comprehensive brandbook that defines their voice, values, visual identity, and client journey. I art directed and styled a photoshoot that captures their warm, rebellious energy, then developed custom photo treatments that reinforce their "anything but beige" philosophy across all touchpoints.

The centerpiece is a fully integrated website that serves as the operational hub for everything they do: showcasing their podcast and music, managing bookings for 1:1 coaching, group song salons, workshops, and their monthly Not So Open Mic, plus a dynamic event calendar and blog. I built the backend systems to streamline their client experience from discovery through transformation, elevating their customer journey to match the depth of their work.

This brand that authentically represents two women helping others find their creative voices, with systems that support sustainable growth as they scale from grassroots community to premium retreats and beyond.

For somatic healer Coby Leibman, we transformed years of multifaceted training into one coherent healing story. Through brand distillation, we wove together his diverse modalities—from ancestral healing to community wellness—into a unified practice that honors the truth he'd discovered: healing happens in relationship to our bodies, communities, ancestors, and the living world.

Our approach honored his multidimensional gifts while creating clarity for clients seeking more than single-modality solutions. The result? A brand strategy and visual identity that positions him as the practitioner who understands that your healing gets to be as multifaceted as you are.

“She did an initial consult with me and listened deeply to my vision and needs for re-designing my website. Within a week she came back to me with a design that was visually stunning and far surpassed my expectations. She helped me with the process of on boarding new clients in a much simpler and efficient way. Within a few weeks of the changes she helped me make I had tripled my client load and filled my practice. She is not only a web designer but a coach and ally in getting your gifts and offerings into the world. I can't recommend her services enough.”

For photographer Jaime Eliza, we embarked on a complete brand transformation that honored her gifts as a gentle witness to feminine beauty and power. Through deep brand distillation, we uncovered how her Lover/Caregiver archetype translates into visual storytelling that makes women feel seen, celebrated, and sovereignly beautiful.

Our approach wove together her artistic vision with strategic business foundation—creating a brand book that captures her essence as the gentle witness, curating photography that showcases her range from intimate fine art nudes to tender motherhood portraits to compelling brand imagery. The website we designed feels like a sacred gallery where women can envision themselves being held and honored through her lens.

Every element, from identity to user experience, was crafted to attract the women and brands who understand that being photographed by Jaime isn't just getting pictures—it's an act of creative collaboration and self-reclamation.

For audio engineer Matt McDavid, we created a portfolio site that lets his work speak volumes. Our approach centered on an interactive listening experience, showcasing his reel in a dynamic, engaging format that invites visitors to explore. To build trust and craft authenticity, we incorporated vintage textures and photo treatments throughout the design—visual choices that evoke the warmth and reliability of a classic tube amplifier.

“Working with Kate was a dream. I had full trust in her ability and creative vision. Usually design work is stressful, but she took my idea and crafted the perfect site. 10/10”

A handwritten note on a white piece of paper that reads, "the 'starring artist' is a lie."

Artists aren't bad at business.
They're visionaries.
Problem-solvers.
World-builders.

They imagine what doesn't exist yet.
Bring visions into reality.
See possibilities others miss.

That's dangerous to a system built on extraction. And why the myth of the starving artist persists—to keep artists disconnected from their agency.

Telling the people in our society who are the most tapped-in that they deserve to suffer for that very calling — who does that serve?

Because resourced artists don't reproduce systems of harm. They don't replicate the dominant economy.

They build new ones.

Economies based on reciprocity. Community. Abundance.

Less likely to hoard wealth.
More likely to create mutual aid.

To heal. Grow. Nurture. Protect. Include. Care. Love.

Most people are too colonized in their minds to imagine a new economy, let alone create one.

But artists hold the leverage point.

The same creativity that makes art can make exceptional entrepreneurship—but not for making more of the same.

It will build the next wave.
A new paradigm.
Something yet to be
imagined.
